Figure 1 shows the transmitter setup, and Figure 2 is the receiver setup for 1 mbpS data rates. The additional receiver circuitry is necessary as the output of the video module is AC coupled and of inappropriate voltage levels for a digital interface. Data Encoding- Manchester encoding is preferred; otherwise avoid long strings of zero’s or ones. Target a long-term duty cycle of 45 to 50%. See AN-102 for further information on Data Encoding Formats. AN-102 Data Encoding **Application Note AN-0102 Data Encoding Formats** The following guidelines are provided here for optimizing your wireless system design for maximum range and reliability. Many tradeoffs must be considered when selecting an off the shelf encoder/decoder or designing custom software. If your wireless design incorporates an off the shelf encoder/decoder combination, the only parameter that might vary is the data rate. KTX-RCR A-Series Data Addressing **Application Note AN-0104 KTX/RCR A-Series Addressing Using T900V/R900V** The following guidelines are provided here for addressing KTX keychain transmitters and RCR receivers. . How much range should I expect from your wireless products?** **A.** Please see data sheets for ranges. Listed ranges are specified as “line-of-sight”. Non line-of-sight applications will have reduced range, and the amount of reduction will depend on the nature of the obstructions. Please contact us for discussion on your application. **Q. What frequency should I use for data transfer?** **A.** Per FCC Part 15 regulations, the 300 and 400 MHz bands may only be used for periodic data transmissions, such as keyless entry type applications. See FCC Part 15 rules for requirements. For continuous or regular transmission intervals, the 900 MHz or 2400 MHz bands must be used. The 900 MHz band can be used for periodic data transmissions as well. Within the 300 and 400 MHz band the choice is yours, and may be limited by your RF environment. For instance, if you will be designing for an application where the environment already has 315 MHz, you can choose to use a 303 MHz or our 433 MHz frequency. **Q. Will the signal of your wireless products penetrate walls, floors, shrubbery, and fences?** **A.** In most cases the signal will pass through wood with little attenuation. Stucco and tightly welded metal construction will attenuate the signal to a greater degree. Chain link fences will attenuate the signal if the fence height is high. Shrubbery will have little effect on the signal. **Q. Can two or more wireless transmitters operate at the same frequency at the same time in the same** **area**? **A.** For our single frequency products, if the transmissions are for a short duration, multiple transmitters can operate at the same frequency in the same area. The wireless receivers incorporate a very selective front-end SAW filter which rejects out-of-band energy that could potentially desensitize or interfere with the receiver. The RCR and KTX Series offer open field range of 350 to 900 feet depending on receive antenna used. With the included quarter-wave whip antenna, open-field range is typically greater than 350 ft. Even greater open-field range can be achieved using Applied Wireless DP Series dipole antenna (600ft) or DP series active dipole antenna (900ft). The SF voltage input, switch “following” transmitter can be used for long range (3-mi.) wireless control of relays. As a switch “follower”, the remote relays will “follow” the actions of a single or multiple remote input switches. Different from a “remote control” system, these transmitters continuously transmit as long as voltage is applied at the input. Each SF900C system has up to 8-inputs connected to a transmitter which control 8-outputs at the receiver. Designed to work in either pairs or one transmitter to several receivers, the output relay at the “receive” end of the wireless link will “follow” the input at the “transmit” end of the other unit. An optional “loopback” mode can be set for each channel separately. This will activate the corresponding relay at the TRANSMIT end confirming that the switch change was carried out at the receive end.
